Family Planning Association of India
History
Established in 1949, FPA India is also the founder
member of IPPF – International Planned Parenthood Federation. FPA India adopts
a rights based approach and works towards promoting access to Sexual Health
Rights (SRH) information and services related to family planning, safe
abortions, HIV/AIDS and sexuality to poor, marginalized and vulnerable populations
including young people through 42 branches/projects, 39 static clinics, 23
Urban Welfare Centres/Clinics, 78 outreach units and 148 Adolescent/Youth
Friendly Centres/Clinics spread over 17 states and one Union Territory of
India. FPA India envisions sexual and reproductive health for all as a human
right, including gender equality leading to alleviation of poverty, population,
stabilization and sustainable development. FPA India engages in providing
capacity building programs, developing strong partnerships with governmental as
well as non-governmental organisations, and providing quality services at all
SRH service delivery points in order to promote awareness on sexual
reproductive health rights and choices and for a better and wider accessibility
to SRH services to a wider and more needy sections of men and women, including
PLHIV, IDUs, MSM and sex workers. Key thematic areas concerning the work done
by FPA India includes Family Planning, Population Education in Universities,
Sexuality Education, Community Mobilisation, Women’s Empowerment, Sexual and
Reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.

History of Involvement With Men
FPA India provides
counseling and treatment for men for conditions like sexual dysfunction,
infertility, hernia, hydrocoele, urinary tract related conditions, STD and
reproductive tract infections. It also provides primary counseling and referral
services regarding gender based violence
